Prelim Task Research

I will also be creating a contents page along with my front cover and the layout will be similar to the one above. This is a popular sports magazine ALPHA which provides interesting topics in every sport. The contents page has a listing of page numbers in order with brief descriptions. It also shows many images with page numbers indicating the page where you can find the story relating to that particular image. It is very colourful with many bright colours instead of just one which makes the contents page more attractive and easier to follow. The contents page is divided into five separate headings ‘FIRE UP’ ‘SPORTS HOTTIE’ ‘MAN ALIVE’ ‘LIFE AFTER SPORT’ and ‘THE OUTER’.  This is an idea which I may find useful as this makes it easy for the audience to follow because they can read what they are more interested in without looking through the whole magazine.

I had to analyse contents pages related to my subject of sports, I did so connotatively and dennotatively.

Research for Media essay

I used wikipedia and IMDB for my media essays and offical websites to research background info on the films or programmes I've studied. My spooks comparison essay was researched using wikipedia and by reading reviews of audiences which gained me a C, whereas my criminal justice essay was composed through the use of my detailed class notes. For my king's speech essay I used IMDB and the official movie website to form my essay, this resulted in me getting a C for my first ever media essay!
